The American Math Olympiad (AMO) is an international math competition for elementary, middle, and high school students that is jointly organized by SIMCC and Southern Illinois University (SIU). It promotes the importance of developing a deeper understanding of math.
The AMO is open to all students from Grade 2 to 12, and its framework is based on the US Common Core Standards. A group of the best educators from Southern Illinois University, with comprehensive knowledge and experience in the Common Core Math curriculum, design unique papers each year to simultaneously challenge the student and promote their interest in math.
Some of the distinguished benefits (or key benefits) of participating in the AMO include:
-
University scholarships
-
Global Scholars Program
-
International Junior Honour Society (IJHS) membership
-
Tuition grants
-
Internships
The best way to prepare for the AMO is by engaging in past papers and seeing the level of mathematics needed to excel in the competition. Find below an info package regarding the 2021 Edition of the AMO, including example questions and worked solutions to practice with.
